RF Cavoodle Health
Dogs have 39 pairs of chromosomes, including one pair of sex chromosomes (X and Y). Found within these chromosomes is the DNA code that can be investigated for potential mutations of genes, which can predispose puppies to nasty, inherited diseases.
Our sire and dams have had complete DNA profiles determined by the Orivet laboratory located in St Kilda, Melbourne. This included a screening of over 250 genetic diseases, as well as genes associated with coat colours, traits, breed identification and parentage confirmation (i.e., the percentage of Cavalier and Poodle that contribute to their genetic make-up).
Our puppies are microchipped and vet-checked at 6 weeks of age. Throughout this session, the puppies overall condition is assessed, which involves checking for any structural abnormalities associated with the eyes, ears, mouth, heart, abdomen, joints, limbs, and testicular development for males.
Our sire and dams are on nutrition plans provided by Lyka*, with additional supplementation and exercise throughout gestational periods. Maintaining our dams in peak fitness, among other obvious benefits, increases the integrity of the muscles associated with contractions throughout labour.
It is of utmost importance that our dogs nutritional requirements throughout all stages of life are beyond met.
